This Italianate Rennaissance home shares its site with a series of magnificent and enormous boulders, one of the most beautiful examples of and elements of Berkeley's geography. Set amongst Live Oaks, a modernist-leaning, Mediterranean garden with additional architecture details relating to those found inside and out of this beautiful home was what was needed to marry the house to its surroundings. The essence of this unusual and powerful rock outcropping added to the inspiration for the Goodman's design, incorporating proper horticulture and subtle rock pathways around the rock areas, transitioning to more structural elements nearer to the house. The new homeowners have breathed new life into it with love and artfulness, correcting mistakes made by prior owners, resurrecting its magnificent presence, which it so deserved. A new front staircase will soon replace the existing, poorly executed, dangerous and not to code one that is there now. Stay tuned…
