Cul-de-sac

before photos

After an extensive interior remodel by architect, Bennett Christopherson, this very special home was reborn timeless and modern. With its simplicity of line, spacious, open living spaces and artful use of materials and color, it beckoned a new modernist reflection for its front entry. Broad sweeps of colored stucco walls, complementing the house and trim colors, line a curving path past a water feature and sunken patio leading to the front door. A direct site line from the living room takes the eye to the water, calming by day and flickering, fire-like at night. This hill home sits at the end of a close-knit cul-de-sac, where neighbors meet, greet and visit - though the front garden offers multiple places to gather and sit, the hardscape and plantings allow for subtle screening and privacy while inviting people to come and sit a spell. The back garden is a very different space, with deck designed by Tim and Lisa, built by The Original Crafters who performed the exquisite interior remodel. Working with an existing hottub deck, a majestic Magnolia hugging the house, a fantastic aviary and patio, and relocating a wraparound bench, all worth holding onto, GLD created an easy, woodland space with meandering paths to enjoy a seemingly endless backyard that dissolves into the wooded ravine below.
