Vegetables in the front yard? That's where the sun is. Then let's build a deer fence that works with the Craftsman architecture. For the small back garden, there's now a patio with a trellis that connects the main house with the more modern studio behind it, both in function and in architectural style. GLD replaced a straight from A-B staircase with one that takes you through the garden, allowing for easier access and enjoyment of getting to the destination - incorporated with the stairs is a stone water feature - a minor grade change accommodated by long curved, flagstone steps, furniture for sitting, edges the gracious patio. Existing trees were pruned to open up the space, allowing for more light in the new shady garden below. |
