We decided a long time ago to keep our company small to be able to maintain attention to detail as we create gardens of lasting beauty. From the initial design process through its implementation, attentive follow-up and seasonal or annual maintenance, we and our talented crew strive to create landscapes at the highest level of artistry and craftsmanship.

Every site presents a unique set of constraints and challenges.  They become part of the canvas with which we begin our designs, and can be a great source of inspiration.

GLD enjoys collaborating with architects, general contractors, interior designers, craftspeople, and, of course, homeowners.  We bring both a big picture perspective, as well as the finest intimate views, to all the gardens we design and build.  Our desire is to build gardens of great beauty that work with the homes they encircle, and, that both look great, and feel good to walk through and be in.

We offer a multitude of services including tasks that fall outside the purview of most landscaping companies. Along with standard garden elements: design, woodwork, stonework, boulder placement, patios, water features, plantings, grading, irrigation, lighting, drainage, etc., we offer paint color consultation, often encompassing architecturally appropriate enhancements and cohesiveness.

We are so appreciative of your artistry and craftsmanship - so happy with the spaces you created for us. It is a joy to experience everyday your artistic selection & placement of each stone, the proportions and nuances of line and scale in the design and all of the creative solutions to making it all really work together. You have truly enriched our lives and we thank you!

I just want to tell you how much I love my yard and so admire the work you did for me. Whenever I am in front, passers-by tell me how great the garden looks. I get the compliments which should be going to you. My compliment is that I was smart enough to choose you. I love the design decisions that you made, the widening of the steps and the columns, the brick detail to tie in with the porch, the river of slate walking down the steps, suggesting the side steps, the slate topping on the stucco walls. I find myself enjoying the plant selection, even the junipers and the dymondia that I was resisting so and the DL looks great too. I know we have a few small items to address but I wanted you to know how I feel about the project. Thank you for making me so happy.

Our street trees are blooming! I was so excited when I saw their gorgeous little pink blossoms that I had to write and say thank you. Thank you for all the interesting plants that are beginning to bloom or show their new foliage, thank you for the garden where my veggies are prospering, and thank you for the pleasure I take each day in watching the garden grow and change.

The yard looks AMAZING! I feel like I am always emailing this to you, but seriously, every time I walk back there I am struck by its beauty. All the plants are growing in perfectly and it looks very lush. If you ever need a referral, please don’t hesitate
to list us.

I know that there are still a few loose ends to be tied up, but it’s not too early to say how pleased we are with our new front garden. The wall and entry look very elegant, and the plantings are even better than I had envisioned. I’m especially enthralled by the little tree (?) on the parking strip by the walk. It’s so intriguing that it would look beautiful even if it never grew any leaves! We appreciate how thoughtfully you listened to us and educated us and worked with us through the process.
